This student has selected Emergency Medical Technician as their first choice. This program is for SENIORS ONLY.
In order to be successful in TCD's EMT program, students should:
- Have a minimum 2.5 GPA,
- Have earned a C or higher in Algebra I, Health or Life Science,
- Have the ability to comprehend college-level text,
- Have no disciplinary issues,
- Have good attendance (students who miss more than 20 days for the year will not be eligible for licensure),
- Be able to follow rules, policies, procedures, and the dress code,
- Have the ability to perform hands-on skills and activities,
- Must have transportation for clinical visits,
- Must have a valid social security number to take the National Registry Exam.
TCD’s EMT program is for seniors interested in becoming Emergency Medical Technicians.
Students taking the National Registry Exam are required to be evaluated for the affective domain. The affective domain evaluates an EMT’s professional attributes and qualities, including but not limited to, attendance, attentiveness, attitude, professionalism, teamwork, and reception of criticism.
Completion of all health requirements is mandatory. Specific health requirements are mandated by the clinical sites (including vaccinations) and are subject to change based on current medical advice and practices.
To be eligible for dual credit through College of DuPage, students are required to have one of the following:
· SAT total score of 950 or higher,
· ACT composite score of 20 or higher,
· 2.6/4.0 or 3.6/5.0 non-weighted GPA, or
· Reading and writing Accuplacer category one scores.
To maintain dual credit eligibility, students must maintain a grade of 80% or better and may not exceed 20 absences per year.
EMT is a one year program.
